Chiefs of Canada's First Nations call on feds on National Indigenous Peoples Day

"On Wednesday, National Indigenous Peoples Day, chiefs of Canada’s Treaty Lands are calling on the federal government to halt the repealing of the Indian Act and meet with the nations on unfinished treaty business, something they say has yet to happen thus far."

“Candidates in the upcoming ECN Chief and Council elections will need to come in for criminal record checks sooner than later. Be advised, it takes up to 2 weeks for the RCMP to get them back, so candidates are advised to put in the requests 2.5 weeks prior to the date that the criminal record checks are due." REMINDER FROM EXTERNAL AFFAIRS: the ECN Custom Election Law requires criminal record checks and affidavits of residency two weeks prior to the nominate date. Response To Catholic Church Statement on the Doctrine of Discovery, Ermineskin Cree Nation – Treaty Six Territory

The Roman Catholic Church issued a Joint Statement of the Dicasteries for Culture and Education and for Promoting Integral Human Development on the “Doctrine of Discovery”. The Church after extensive research has concluded that the Doctrine of Discovery is not valid. It cannot be used to “claim” our territories, lands and resources.

Ermineskin Cree Nation's Neyaskweyahk Group of Companies Inc. becomes the largest shareholder of First Nations Bank of Canada

First Nations Bank of Canada and Ermineskin Cree Nation proudly announce that Neyaskweyahk Group of Companies Inc. is now the largest shareholder of the Bank, owning 18% of FNBC and increasing the financial institution’s Indigenous ownership to 87%. "In 1996, the founders of First Nations Bank of Canada invested capital in creating a bank focused on serving Indigenous customers with the services, focus and respect they deserved from their financial institution.
